Laryngitis

January 19th, 2008 at 01:16 am

Anyone have a home treatment for laryngitis. (I know how to spell it 'cause I just looked it up on WebMd).
WebMd said if the laryngitis is with some cold symptoms (mine is) to take Ibuprofen or Aceteminophen and using hot steam from a bath or shower helps. Or a cool mist humidifier.
I am off work for the next three days, so that will help matters, but I have never had it this bad before. It is really frustrating to try to talk.
Anyone have some home treatment they swear by?

I have no home remedies to offer, but feel well soon

Salt water gargles, hot toddies w/whiskey, honey, lemon & hot water, rest those pipes, hot apple cider, hot tea w/loads of honey.

Avoid milk, cheese, dairy, which are all mucous forming things that will help plug you up worse. Drink water, hot baths & showers, soak your feet in hot water and keep head/throat warm. Vitamin C.

I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.

    Thank you Amber and Lux!
I took a hot therapeutic shower this morning and it did help! My husband has been sick this week before me and already had Mucinex so I took that this morning too.
I will treat myself well today!
So fortunate that i am off work anyway until Tuesday.
My husband went to the doc on Monday this week and he got a steroid shot. Wish my docs office was open this weekend.
