Hi everyone, I have been away again, but I'm ready to back on the train.
Have a new challenge.
I saw this on the Yahoo Business blog. The author said she and some of her online buddies do a challenge where you don't spend any money for 10-days. I guess it's like a 10-day extreme cleanse or something. LOL.
I'm going get my meals planned and shopping done. I filled up with gas today.
I'm going to go ahead and pay any bills early that are due in the next 10 days.
I have a couple of things I know I need to spend money on. I have prepaid my DGS child care with the Y for the next month, but they don't do Fridays so I have to get someone to keep him on Friday. Or, I might just take the day off. That is the easiest way to have a no spend day. Just stay home.
I'm excited about it. I will let you know how I'm doing each day.

If it was the same article I saw on Yahoo, it was pointless. The author went ahead and paid ALL her bills, filled up her car and made sure she was fully stocked grocery wise. @@ Then instituted a 10 day no spending plan. @@ Sounds like it would harder to actually spend rather than not spend.

I have been spending too much money lately and I think this will really help me.
For one thing, I have never been a good planner when it comes to grocery shopping and meals. So, this is forcing me to take stock and have everything ready by Monday morning.
Planning has never been one of my strong suits.
This way I won't be going in any stores at all for 10 days. No impulse buying.
I purchased a little swimming pool and a cheaper version of a slip and slide to entertain my DGS next weekend so we won't we going out finding entertainment and using gas.
I'm sure it's not for everyone, maybe not even me.
But, I find that using challenges like this help me focus on my finances.

Oh, I hope you didn't think I was implying YOU shouldn't do it. I have no problem with the idea of a no spend plan. It was just the example on Yahoo hardly qualified. If you don't need to pay bills, don't need gas and don't need food, generally speaking, what would you need to spend money on? That is generally not the case for the most of us.
